***Questions about Canine Influenza?
Ask us if your dog is at risk! High risk situations include (but are not limited to):
-Dog Shows
-Dog Parks
-Doggy Daycare
Information from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine FAQ on Canine Influenza:
When canine influenza first strikes a given population virtually 100% of dogs will become infected. However, up to ~20% will show no signs of disease. Therefore, all exposed dogs must be considered an infectious risk, whether or not they are showing signs of respiratory infection. In most dogs, signs of infection are similar to "kennel cough" from other causes, and may include:
-Mild low-grade fever
-Soft, moist (productive) or dry cough
-Unresponsive to antibiotics
-Thick nasal discharge
After the first week or so of coughing, 10-20% of dogs may progress to a more severe form of infection including:
-High fever
-Pneumonia
Please call your Veterinarian if you are interested in receiving this vaccination or if you have any questions about canine influenza.
MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY!!!!
The Veterinarians and staff at Ingersoll Animal Hospital are proud to announce the addition of a new, exciting and less stressful procedure that is available for your dog.
Rigid laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive technique for viewing the internal structures of the abdomen. A laparoscope (camera) inserted through a small incision in the abdomen magnifies internal structures of the abdomen on a TV monitor for a more thorough examination. Additional small incisions are made to facilitate the use of surgical instruments. The most common application of laparoscopy is biopsy. In recent years, laparoscopy has been adopted as a less traumatic and less painful alternative to traditional spays. Our Veterinarians are equipped to do abdominal surgery and biopsies of abdominal organs such as the liver and intestines, cryptorchid (retained testicle) neuters and spays. ADVANTAGES:
